Ajay Bhatnagar, MD, MBA

Radiation Oncologist

Ajay Bhatnagar, MD, MBA, is a board-certified radiation oncologist who received his medical degree from University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. With an undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering, Dr. Bhatnagar saw an opportunity to apply technology to healthcare, which helped him choose to pursue a medical degree. During medical school, he was intrigued by the scientific perspective of oncology, including cancer biology and genetics. Specializing in radiation oncology provided the perfect field for him to combine his technical and academic interests with his passion to care for patients.

Dr. Bhatnagar uses his expertise in the latest radiation oncology technologies including IMRT/IGRT, SBRT, SRS, and Electronic Brachytherapy to treat a wide range of cancers and benign conditions throughout the body. As a radiation oncologist, he works collaboratively with many other physicians in the fields of urology, surgery, neurosurgery, medical oncology, and more to achieve the right treatment and best results for his patients.

He specializes and has helped develop technology, conducted research, and authored seminal articles related to the use of Electronic Brachytherapy (eBx™) in the treatment of Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer, utilizing eBx, a non-invasive, painless procedure with exceptional cosmetic outcomes ideally suited for patients not interested in surgical treatments. Dr. Bhatnagar has lectured internationally regarding this treatment option and served as faculty for the American Brachytherapy Society (ABS) annual meeting, continuing to serve on committees on behalf of ABS and American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and key opinion leader for the role of radiation therapy in the treatment of Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer.

Dr. Bhatnagar currently serves as the president of the local state chapter of American College of Radiology (ACR), Arizona Radiological Society, and is a member of ABS, ASTRO, AMA, and ACR.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and twin children, traveling, playing golf and tennis, and skiing.
